CHANGE IN NIFTY COMPOSITION

NSE has omitted Jayaprakash Associates and Ranbaxy Laboratories and included Tech Mahindra and United Spirits in the NIFTY composition. The change will be effective from today.

PACL,PGF ANOTHER SAHARA

CBI  has recovered documents in the searches it conducted at the premises of Delhi-based business groups PACL and PGF show they allegedly used ponzi scheme to cheat nearly five crore investors of Rs 45,000.

In its case against PACL and PGF, CBI has named PGF Director Nirmal Singh Bhangoo and PACL Director Sukhdev Singh besides six other directors of the companies.

The groups had allegedly raised investments from over five crore gullible investors through collective investment scheme under the garb of sale and development of agricultural land.

WORLD'S MOST ADMIRED COMPANIES.

Tata Steel and ONGC have been named among the world's most admired companies by Fortune magazine.

Apple is the number 1 admired company in the world.

The two Indian companies however do not feature among the top 50 most admired companies in the world. 

The list ranks over 350 global companies from diversified fields across the world.

In the ranking of top companies for India, Tata Steel comes in at the fourth spot, up two notches from its previous rank of 6.

Public sector firm Oil and Natural Gas Commission is ranked 7th in the mining, crude oil production category, improving its ranking from its previous 10th position.

Among the top 10 companies on the 'World's Most Admired' companies list includes online retail giant Amazon.com (rank 2), internet major Google (3), American conglomerate Berkshire Hathaway (4), coffee giant Starbucks (5) and beverages major Coca Cola (6).

LOK SABHA ELECTION 2014 : AAP RELEASES SECOND LIST

Aam Aadmi Party  has released its second list of candidates for Lok Sabha elections, deciding to pit Raj Mohan Gandhi, the grandson of Mahatma Gandhi, against sitting Congress parliamentarian Sandeep Dikshit.
 

In the list of 30 candidates, former Bharatiya Janata Party leader Rajan Sushant will contest from Himachal Pradesh's Kangra district.

Sushant, a parliamentarian from Himachal Pradesh, who was suspended from the BJP for anti-party activities, joined the Aam Aadmi Party last week.


Of the 30 names candidates in the list, 10 are from Maharashtra, six from Madhya Pradesh, five from Haryana, three from Rajasthan and one each from Delhi, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, J&K, Punjab and Uttarakhand.

Bimal Jalan committee on screening new bank licence applications submitted its report to the RBI. The dead line for issuing licences is 31-03-2014. L&T Finance Holdings, India Post, IDFC Capital and entities from Mahindra and Birla group are likely to get license in the first instance.

Bharti Airtel and Apple launch India’s first 4G on mobile

Bharti Airtel along Apple today launched India’s first 4G on mobile. Now Airtel customers in Bengaluru on Apple iPhone 5s or 5c will be able to experience 4G on their mobile at the current 3G prices for a ‘FLYing’ internet browsing experience while on the move. Customers have to just change their existing SIM to a 4G SIM to start enjoying 4G on mobile without any need to migrate from their existing data plan.

L&T GETS FIPB NOD FOR RS 1000 CRORE

Canada Pension Plan Investment Board will invest Rs.1,000 crore in L&T Infrastructure Development Projects Ltd , a unit of Larsen and Toubro, country's biggest engineering and construction firm. FIPB has recently cleared this proposal.

ARCHANA BHARGAVA RESIGNS

Controversial chairman and managing director of United Bank of India, Archana Bhargava has resigned from her post on Friday even as the bank faces a probe by the Reserve Bank of India and the government regarding the piling up of bad loans in the last two quarters.  

COCA-COLA PROFITS DECLINES.

Beverages giant Coca-Cola's profit fell due to slowing of sales in the US and Europe. The fourth-quarter net income fell by 8.4% from a year earlier to $1.7bn missing analyst estimates. Revenue also fell, partly due to currency fluctuations and the sale of its bottling operations in Brazil and the Philippines last year.

The stock closed  flat at $37,at NYSE.

SC REJECTS SAHARA'S PLEA, DIRECTS DIRECTORS TO APPEAR IN PERSON

SC has rejected the plea made by Sahara Group to give them one more chance to clarify the matters relating to refund of deposits amounting to Rs 19,000 crore to its 3.3 crore investors and the Supreme Court directed Subrata Roy and three directors to appear before it in person on February 26 to give an explanation.


The direction came after one of Sahara’s counsels, CA Sundaram, objected to the court's proposal to let the market regulator Sebi sell off the land given as security to recover the dues. The judges wanted Sebi to take steps towards selling the properties irrespective of their value. It also suggested Sebi to initiate prosecution if the properties were not unencumbered.    

PEOPLE'S BANK OF CHINA TIGHTENS MONETARY SUPPLY

China's central bank has withdrawn $8bn from the money markets in a bid to control the amount of credit in the country's financial system.

People's Bank of China did so by issuing 14-day forward bond repurchase agreements.


It is the first time since June the PBOC has used this route and comes after China released unusually strong economic data earlier this year.

WAL-MART'S PROFIT DECLINES



Wal-Mart, the world's largest retailer has reported a 22% drop in quarterly profit  for the quarter ended 31st January. Net income for the three months fell to $4.4bn  from $5.6bn a year earlier.

AAP WILL BE THIRD LARGEST PARTY AFTER BJP AND CONGRESS

AAP which rode to power on the issue of corruption is likely to garner around ten percent vote at national level in the coming 2014 LS election. This will put AAP just behind two national parties Congress and BJP. The percentage of vote of AAP is going to be more than any other regional party including the Marxists.

LS ELECTION 2014 : AAP RELEASES FIRST LIST

Aam Aadmi Party  has released  the first list of 20 candidates for the Lok Sabha polls. Prominent among them are social activist Medha Patkar, Anjali Damania, Yogendra Yadav and Kumar Vishwas.

Party spokesperson Ashutosh will contest from Chandni Chowk, the constituency of Law Minister Kapil Sibal, Mukul Tripathi will be contesting against External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid from Farukkhabad in Uttar Pradesh, and Kumar Vishwas will be pitted against Rahul Gandhi in Amethi constituency, also in Uttar Pradesh.


Anjali Damania who would contest from Bharatiya Janata Party leader Nitin Gadkari's stronghold Nagpur, Yogendra Yadav from Gurgaon, lawyer H.S. Phoolka from Ludhiana, the constituency of Information and Broadcasting Minister Manish Tewari, and Subhash Ware who will fight against Suresh Kalmadi in Pune.

Medha Patkar will contest the polls from northeast Mumbai.

PENGUIN RECALLS CONTRIVERSIAL BOOK - THE HINDUS

Penguin India has agreed to recall and destroy all remaining copies of a book on Hinduism- Wendy Doniger's book The Hindus: An Alternative History had been the subject of a legal challenge claiming the text was offensive to Hindus.

ZUCKERBERG COPLE DONATES $970 MILLIONS, TOPS PHILANTHROPIST LIST

Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan have been named joint top US philanthropists for 2013.

The couple gained the accolade after a donation of 18 million Facebook shares to a Silicon Valley foundation.

The donation, worth more than $970m was the largest in the US in 2013.

AAP DIRECTS ACB TO REGISTER FIR AGAINST MUKESH

Delhi government ha directed the Anti-Corruption Branch to register an FIR against the chairperson of Reliance Industries Limited Mukesh Ambani, union petroleum minister M Veerappa Moily, former petroleum minister Murli Deora and former director general of Hydrocarbons VK Sibal under various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act (PCA).

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal described the details mentioned in the complaint received by the Delhi government as shocking, and which were an assault on India’s economic sovereignty and amounted to an anti-national activity.

The CM has demanded that the central government should put its decision to hike the prices of gas in abeyance till the time the probe into the matter is completed. 

ITC MAY REPLACE RIL AS MOST VALUABLE COMPANY

RIL, the second most valued company after TCS may lose its position to ITC. The market cap of RIL as on yesterday stood at Rs 2.60 crore, as against Rs 2.58 crore  of ITC. RIL lost two percent yesterday after allegations made by Delhi Chief Minister, in respect of gas pricing. The negative sentiment on the stock is likely to continue for some more sessions. ITC yesterday closed at Rs 325 and RIL closed at Rs 825.

TATA MOTORS Q3, 2013, RESULTS



Tata Motors consolidated net profit after taxes stood at Rs. 48048.00 million for the quarter ended December 31, 2013 as compared to Rs. 16275.00 million for the quarter ended December 31, 2012. Total Income has increased from Rs. 462781.40 million for the quarter ended December 31, 2012 to Rs. 640343.00 million for the quarter ended December 31, 2013.  The stock closed at Rs 364, up Rs 3 in yesterday's trading.
