CPI FOR JULY AT 3.78, RATE CUT HOPE INCREASES

Consumer price inflation  fell to 3.78 per cent, backed by cheaper food, fruits and vegetable prices and a favourable base effect. The CPI was 5.4 per cent in June. The industrial output grew 3.8 per cent in June, a four-month high, helped by manufacturing sector pick-up and better consumer goods production.

The RBI may reduce interest rate in its next policy meeting in view of easing of inflation.
