ICICI Direct : Britannia to be included in Nifty

Britannia Industries could soon make its way into the benchmark Nifty 50 index. According to an analysis by ICICI Direct, either HPCL or telecom tower company Bharti Infratel may make way for this stake.

Britannia closed at Rs 3204, up Rs 50 in yesterday's trade.

Vodafone Idea to raise Rs 25,000 Cr rights offer

The board of directors of Vodafone Idea  has approved Rs 25,000 crore fund-raising plan by way of rights issue to existing eligible equity shareholders, according to filing with the exchanges.

Asian paints net surges by 15 percent

Asian Paints has reported 15 per cent year-on-year rise in consolidated profit at Rs 636 crore for the quarter ended December 31. The firm had posted a profit of Rs 555 crore in the corresponding quarter last year. 

Consolidated revenue of the company increased 24 per cent to Rs 5,294 crore in Dec quarter over Rs 4,267 crore in the same quarter last year. 

The stock closed at Rs 1404, down Rs 17 in yesterday's trading.


Wood Mackenzie : India's oil demand surging

According to research firm Wood Mackenzie  India will surpass China to become the second largest oil demand growth center globally in 2019 on back of buoyant auto fuel and LPG consumption.

In a report, Wood Mackenzie says that India’s oil demand growth recovered strongly in 2018, overcoming the aftermath of the implementation of Goods and Services Tax  and demonetization, and contributed 14 per cent of the global demand growth or 2,45,000 barrels per day.

Fairfax in race to acquire Siddhartha's stake, MindTree gains 5 odd percent

 Fairfax is learnt to be leading the race to acquire V G Siddhartha’s stake in MindTree.

Currently, Siddhartha holds close to a 21 per cent stake through various entities, while the founders of Mindtree — S. Bagchi,  Parthasarathy, K. Natarajan and R. Ravanan — hold around 13 per cent in the company.

MindTree gained 5 odd percent in Tuesday's trade and closed at Rs 930.

Sun Pharma gains 5% on corporate restructure, change of auditors

Sun Pharma has replaced its domestic formulations distributor Aditya Medisales with its own subsidiary in the backdrop of a second whistle blower complaint filed against the company. The stock gained 5% and closed at Rs 418.

The company also announced unwinding of a transaction amounting to Rs 2,238 crore with Atlas Global Trading and initiated steps to induct S R B C & Co, its statutory auditors, as auditors of subsidiaries.

Lactalis buys Prabhat Dairy for Rs 1700 Cr

Lactalis, a multinational dairy products corporation, owned by the Besnier family and based in  France, will buy Prabhat Dairy, a bulk producer of milk and dairy products, in its third acquisition in India.

As per the filing with the the stock exchanges that Lactalis’s Indian subsidiary Tirumala Milk Products was acquiring its dairy business for Rs 1,700 crore, which is 1.17 times its FY18 sales of Rs 1,442 crore. The transaction is subject to mandatory approvals. 

IMF scales up India's growth at 7.5%

IMF has scaled up projections for India's economic growth by 0.1 percentage points at 7.5 per cent for 2019-20, even as it cut the same for the global growth by 0.2 percentage points at 3.5 per cent for 2018.

The IMF’s database also suggested that India’s contribution to world growth has increased from 7.6 per cent during 2000-2008 to 14.5 per cent in 2018.

CLSA ups target on HDFC Bank

CLSA has raised the target on HDFC Bank to Rs 2730.  This revision has come after analyzing the Dec 2018 quarter results. HDFC Bank's net profit rose 20.3 percent year-on-year to Rs 5,586 crore, the country’s largest private lender by market value said today. That compares with the Rs 5,611-crore consensus estimate of analysts.
Net interest income rose 22 percent to Rs 12,576 crore over last year, marginally lower than the Rs 12,709-crore estimate. Net interest margin was flat at 4.3 percent compared with the previous quarter.

E commerce giant, Snapdeal has announced Republic Day sale and will offer products from all categories with great discounts. ‘Deals of India’ sale by Snapdeal will commence on January 20, 2019 and will continue till January 24 midnight. 

Snapdeal will offer great discounts on a large collection of TVs, laptops, home appliances, kitchen appliances and electronics. With SBI debit cards, consumers can avail extra 10 percent discount.

TVs of brands like Intex, Westway and Detel will be sold from Rs. 3,999. Price of vacuum cleaners will start from Rs 1799. Up to 70% discount will be available for Skybags, backpacks and luggage.

Sun Pharma’s stock  has lost 10% in the last one month and more than 30% in the last 1 year due to variety of reasons including the whistle-blower complaint.
